Grants are awarded by the government to help assist people in living and in business, education, and helping the economy. With diligent research you can find Unlisted Agencies, Foundations, Funding Requirements and Application Forms. The government wants you to succeed in opening your small business, or help develop it that much more.

There are approximately 1,400 Federal Government Programs, 31,000 Charitable Private Foundations, 20,000+ Scholarship Programs, and 17,000 State Government Programs available for women.

Every woman could use at least one grant whether it be for business, rent, housing, food, daycare, or bills. With today's economy failing and the lack of jobs available a grant can help you get back to the business of comfortable living. Despite the abundance of grant programs available, many businesses and individuals are finding it difficult to locate  or obtaining different forms of grant funding. The system can be a very confusing or daunting task.

The Educational Foundation awards scholarships to women who are pursuing accounting degrees at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Jeannette Rankin Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for, and awarding grants to, low-income women, ages 35 and older. Most recipients are in truly meager financial circumstances and may have other hardships or disabilities.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than seven out of every 10 women-owned businesses and firms are operated in the services or retail trade industries. Considering the nature of these two types of businesses, one can easily see why the need for business loans and grants for women is on the rise.

The US Government has a MicroLoan Program that provides small loans to new start-up companies, newly established businesses, or loans to help small business growth concerns. More on government loan programs for women are available at www.digitalwomenloans.org

What About all the Grant Advertisements? Are they just hype or are they for real?

While they may use advertising ploys to get you to buy their program, most of them are legitimate. We get asked all the time that if grants are free why is there a charge for their grant programs? The answer is simple.....  They have done all the legwork for you. They have located the grant programs through the government and a lot of them are not even advertised or known about by the public.  Because of all this research and organization they have done, they charge for it. Yes, you can do the same research for free but rest assured it going to take a long time and a lot of running around the government red tape to get what you are looking for.

If you have ever dealt with a government office then you know exactly what I am talking about.

The grant packages you see appearing on the internet usually offer:

  • Access to their database of government and non-government funding sources including grants
  • Access to foundations that also provide funding and financing for women including small business grants and loans
  • Some also offer grant writing assistance in helping you locate the right grant for you.
  • And even other will actually perform the whole grant application process for you for a fee.
Is it worth it? This I can't answer for you. It mainly depends on your grant needs.  I have reviewed several of the grant packages available today and narrowed them down to a select few. If you would like to see them you can visit: grants.digital-women.com

If you are specifically looking for a grant to start or run your business, then may I suggest you look instead for a government loan or a micro-loan IF you plan on making a profit. You can visit our government loans for women information site here
